We are excited to host COTAC at the Main Stage at Sky Candy in Austin, Texas! This studio features ceiling heights of 28 feet and multiple pulley points to set aerial apparatus to your desired height. For the pole portion of COTAC, we will have trussing set to hold the two competition grade brass poles provided by Lupit.

You will need transportation from the airport to your hotel (Capital Metro, taxi, Uber or Lyft is available). If you wish to explore other areas of Austin, there are rental car companies available at the airport.

All ages are welcome to attend the championships, however, this is a professionally video recorded sporting event so if you have young children that become distracting during the event, we will have to ask you to take them outside.
Yes, you can take pictures/video, please #COTAC2018 on your social media posts. You cannot stand while taking photos/video and cannot be impeding someone else's view. No flash please.
Yes! We will have a variety of workshops open to all attendees and the general public. Workshop announcements will be made as we get closer to the event.
Yes! Volunteer spaces are available and include the following duties: pole cleaning in between pole performances, checking in attendees and contestants to the event, set-up, clean-up, assisting with registration/information desk and other general duties as assigned. Volunteers receive one General Admission Ticket to attend the COTAC when committing to 6 hours over the course of the weekend. You will sign a contract agreeing to volunteer to receive the ticket. Aerial contestants will not receive scores or reviews from the aerial online judges. We highly advise you do not wait until the last minute to submit your aerial video!

Early bird submission notifications will be sent May 1st, 2018. Final roster is solidified, final notifications will be sent June 15th, 2018. Those who do not qualify will receive email notification before we post our final notifications.

No, submission fees are non-refundable as these are used to compensate submission judges for their time as well as cover other submission expenses. However, anyone who submits to COTAC will be able to attend all COTAC shows, socials, and panels for free.
No. Doubles entries consist of one application fee and one completed application form per team.
Texas Residents are welcome to compete in all categories and divisions of the Capital of Texas Aerial Championships. Non Texas and Non U.S. Residents are welcome to compete as well.
Applicants must be 15 years or above to enter the aerial portion of COTAC.
Applicants must be 10 years or above to enter the pole portion of COTAC.
The event schedule will be released after we close registration. It will be emailed out to all performers about 30 days before the event date.
COTAC doesn't want anyone in the audience to be offended. No vulgar music, radio edits only.
Small props are allowed as a part of your act. If you are unsure if your proposed prop is considered small, email email@example.com to verify.
*Not all divisions allow props. Please read the rules to see if your division permits it.

No, submission videos may be anything from in-studio practice runs to professional videos, as long as the feature a full act set to music that showcases your range of skills.
No, you do not need to submit the same act you would like to perform at COTAC, but it should be a full act, set to music.
There will be 20 seconds of required floorwork as a part of the final act performed at COTAC, but is not necessary in your aerial submission video.
COTAC does not have an aerial burlesque category, so please do not incorporate striptease into your act.
Can COTAC provide an aerial apparatus? A: Yes! We have silks, Hammocks, covered ropes, Trapeze, and Lyras of varying size. Please email specific questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Yes! We will get specifics from you prior to the event to make sure it the apparatus is appropriate for use. Apparatus must be fabricated by a certified welder of good reputation.
No! All categories have the option to showcase only if you choose not to compete. Simply mark it on your application.
Yes, acts should be 4 minutes or less.
No, we will not be using live pulley systems, winches, or motors. You may set your apparatus to your desired height and it should stay there throughout your entire act.
